Delegasi Federasi Mountaineering Indonesia (FMI) tiba di Kathmandu, Nepal, Kamis (29/10/2026). Rombongan mendarat di Bandara Internasional Tribhuvan. Di aula kedatangan, mereka disambut spanduk UIAA GA 2026 yang dipasang Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).

A delegation of the Federasi Mountaineering Indonesia (FMI) arrived in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Thursday (29/10/2026). The group landed at Tribhuvan International Airport. In the arrivals hall they were greeted by a UIAA GA 2026 banner put up by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).

Agenda utama perjalanan ini Sidang Umum UIAA 2026. Sidang berlangsung 30 sampai 31 Oktober di Hotel Yak & Yeti. Sidang Umum adalah forum tertinggi, tempat keputusan utama organisasi diambil.

The main agenda of the trip is the 2026 UIAA General Assembly. The assembly runs from 30 to 31 October at Hotel Yak & Yeti. The General Assembly is the highest forum, where the organisation's main decisions are taken.

Getting to Know the UIAA

UIAA adalah International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, induk federasi pendakian gunung dan panjat tebing dunia. Berdiri Agustus 1932 di Chamonix, Prancis, oleh 20 asosiasi pendakian. Kantornya sekarang di Bern, Swiss.

The UIAA is the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation, the world body for mountaineering and climbing. It was founded in August 1932 in Chamonix, France, by 20 mountaineering associations. Its office is now in Bern, Switzerland.

Per Sidang Umum 2025, UIAA punya 99 asosiasi anggota di 77 negara yang mewakili 3,45 juta pendaki. Sejak 1995 lembaga ini diakui Komite Olimpiade Internasional. Pekerjaannya dijalankan delapan komisi, dari medis gunung sampai perlindungan lingkungan.

As of its 2025 General Assembly, the UIAA has 99 member associations in 77 countries representing 3.45 million climbers. Since 1995 it has been recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Its work runs through eight commissions, from mountain medicine to environmental protection.

Yang paling gampang dikenali dari UIAA adalah label keselamatan pada tali, carabiner, dan helm. Label itu dibuat 1960 dan sampai sekarang sudah diberikan lebih dari 2.500 kali kepada 130 lebih produsen. UIAA juga menerbitkan deklarasi, di antaranya Deklarasi Kathmandu 1982 dan UIAA Declaration 2024.

The most recognisable mark of the UIAA is its safety label on ropes, carabiners, and helmets. The label was created in 1960 and has been issued more than 2,500 times to over 130 manufacturers. The UIAA also issues declarations, among them the Kathmandu Declaration of 1982 and the 2024 UIAA Declaration.

Muhammad Iqbal El Mubarak, Sp.B-ET, FINACS; Wakil Sekretaris Jenderal Kolonel Marinir Arief Rahman Hakim, M.Tr (Opsla)., M.Han; Kepala Biro Hubungan Luar Negeri Zulfahmi Ramli; dan Ketua Bidang Penelitian, Pengembangan, dan Inovasi dr. Putro Setyobudyo Muhammad, MBL, CIHL.

The FMI delegation is led by Brigadier General TNI (Mar) Sandy Muchjidin Latief, S.I.P., M.M., who is also Deputy Chairman of PB FMI. Its members are Secretary General dr. Muhammad Iqbal El Mubarak, Sp.B-ET, FINACS; Deputy Secretary General Colonel Marinir Arief Rahman Hakim, M.Tr (Opsla)., M.Han; Head of the Foreign Relations Bureau Zulfahmi Ramli; and Head of the Research, Development and Innovation Division dr. Putro Setyobudyo Muhammad, MBL, CIHL.

Di sela rangkaian Sidang Umum, FMI menandatangani kemitraan strategis dengan tiga organisasi Nepal. Dua di antaranya asosiasi pemilik jalur dan jasa perjalanan di Himalaya, yaitu NMA dan Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN). Satu lagi wadah pemandu gunung, Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA).

On the sidelines of the assembly, FMI signs strategic partnerships with three Nepali organisations. Two of them are associations of route owners and travel operators in the Himalaya, namely NMA and the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN). The third is the mountain guides body, the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA).

Yang dibawa Indonesia ke forum itu pengalaman mengelola gunung berapi, hutan tropis, dan jalur yang tersebar di banyak pulau. Indonesia punya gunung berapi di kawasan Ring of Fire dan bentang kepulauan lebih dari 17 ribu pulau. “Indonesia memiliki karakter pegunungan kepulauan yang khas. Pengalaman mengelola kondisi itu kami bawa untuk dipertukarkan dengan federasi dari berbagai negara,” kata Ketua Umum PB FMI Mayjen TNI Mar (Purn.) Buyung Lalana.

What Indonesia brings to the forum is experience in managing volcanoes, tropical forests, and trails spread across many islands. Indonesia has volcanoes along the Ring of Fire and an archipelago of more than 17 thousand islands. “Indonesia has a distinctive archipelagic mountain character. We bring that experience to exchange with federations from other countries,” said retired Major General TNI Mar Buyung Lalana, Chairman of PB FMI.

Posisi Indonesia di peta pendakian dunia juga besar. Puncak Jaya atau Carstensz Pyramid satu dari tujuh puncak dunia. Kawasan pegunungan tropisnya terluas, tersebar dari Sumatra sampai Papua. Data Kementerian Luar Negeri RI mencatat sekitar 150 ribu wisatawan asing datang ke Indonesia untuk pendakian setiap tahun. Nepal sekitar 115 ribu.

Indonesia's standing on the world climbing map is also significant. Puncak Jaya, or Carstensz Pyramid, is one of the seven summits. Its tropical mountain region is the largest, spread from Sumatra to Papua. Data from Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs records about 150 thousand foreign visitors coming to the country for climbing each year. Nepal records about 115 thousand.

Delegasi berada di Kathmandu sampai 2 November 2026. Perjalanan ini berjalan dengan dukungan Direktorat Asia Selatan dan Tengah, Direktorat Jenderal Asia Pasifik dan Afrika, Kementerian Luar Negeri RI, lewat surat NK B.30.260157 tanggal 7 September 2026. Dukungan juga datang dari KBRI Dhaka yang merangkap Bangladesh dan Nepal. FMI menyampaikan terima kasih kepada Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut, Panglima Korps Marinir, dan Kepala Badan Intelijen Strategis TNI, serta Eiger yang mendukung perjalanan ini.

The delegation stays in Kathmandu until 2 November 2026. The trip is supported by the Directorate of South and Central Asia, Directorate General of Asia Pacific and Africa at Indonesia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through letter NK B.30.260157 dated 7 September 2026. Support also comes from the Indonesian Embassy in Dhaka, accredited to both Bangladesh and Nepal. FMI thanks the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy, the Commander of the Marine Corps, and the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency of the Indonesian Armed Forces, as well as Eiger, which supports this trip.
